Bouttime - I fish really short hours, so it is hit or miss, but you are welcome to join me.
I have to drop the kids off to school then launch. Am usually back alongside by 3pm, so that I have time to wash the boat then cook dinner. The chores of a house husband!
This usually means a dash out, wet a line for a few hours, then dash in. This is why I generally fish alone.

Alfred, i'll suss out the weather and the water temp and if all's good i'll look for a local spanyid then hit the FADS.......if not i'll do some driftbaiting instead!
No worries Tim and Alfred, let me know a bit closer to tuesday.
Ended up buying the moter from Aqualife marine in freo, nice bloke and a good price. he was also able to fit me in straight away so its done for my trip to Exmouth.
Yeh Dean, there's been a few caught before the water temp went down over the last 3 weeks....size range between 12-18kg....heaps of weed about that makes it so much harder!
Happy to take the boat out if we have enough people and the weather is good, happy to leave from Hillaries or anywhere really. Was actually thinking of Lano/Two Rocks if the weather is that good.
The B/s Artist formerly known as Wrassehole
yeah alfred im looking at heading out deep hopefully as well, i know what you mean about all the weed too ryan, been pissing me off the last number of weeks, makes for hard and almost pointless trolling
Yes i'll be heading out from Two Rocks on Tuesday try some trolling, then hit some lumps and patches no worries is coming for a ride I hope he's good at baiting hooks.Shoud be a good day looking at the forecast (touch wood) if your heading my way we will be on the ramp at six, look for the Caribbean Concord. Good look
haha funny one simon, might see you guys up two rocks as well going to head out around 6ish, where have you decided to head out from anyway alfred, ive decided to maybe wait till later in the week and maybe hit the fads
well jody and myself fished around 25k's off two rock in around 38-42m of water managed for the day 3 dhuies not big though, 1 sambo(kept for the neighbours) 2 nice sharks i think whiskery, 1 skippy and 1 black arse, lol and a bright red face to me, damn it was warm out there but what a day, well worth the trip to two rocks again
Fished Two Rocks today with Simon. great day on the water but a pitty about the fish not biting. Ended up with a dhuie and a baldie in the esky, faught a stingray for about an hour on 15kg( i now know how far a Tcurve 200 can bend) foul hooked it the tail, landed a 20+kg sambo on my new Diawa Oceana 4500J with 15kg braid which was good fun. Tried a few new jigs without a lookin. all in all a great day on the water and thanks again Simon for the day out.
Found the fish on several different lumps but none of them seemed hungry. Bite shut down after 11am.
yeah found the same today ie shut down, plent of fish home but none biting even the pickers seemed to go quiet, gee steve pity that ray wasnt a dhuie alfred did you hit any of the fads at all would have been a good day for it
yeah seems a very hit and miss year out on the fads this year, well i just sat down and had a couple of bbq dhufish wings with a bit of olive oil and garlic and a couple of crownies, yummmoooo great finish to a nice day on the water
gidday all yea was very quiet we picked up 2 size pinkies and a sweep fished club marine also but nothing there few bait schools around but nothing with them
was a great day , seen alfred i think at the fads in the whaler and thanks for the bloke in the new surtee's for following us around and pinging my spots there's million's of bloody square metres of water out there , next time i'll follow the slingshot rule , hope you like sinkers
Yeh - that bloke in the Surtees buzzed us in 100mtr west of Rotto but so did two other clowns - basically drove straight up to us. Wood ducks everywhere. Anyway had a good day, got our 20 crabs at Woodies, 16 crays at Rotto then headed out to the derwent which was dead - good sign but no fish biting, Club Marine fad on the way in which was also quiet then to a bit of coral in 100mtr for 1 pink of 4-5kg. Not a bad day but it would nice if people didnt ghost us wherever we went nailing all our marks.
hey moylee i think my path from one point to another cut past you , i was in the ali c/c with the blue t top and aerials , your boat looked familiar also another one was a dark colored genesis must be to hard for them to figure it out
Hey Feral that you at Club Marine? Should have come by to say Hi!
Took the advise of my deckie (that will not be named - LOL!) that if
we lauched at Freo we could cut a 1/3 of the time it would take to get
to the Derwent. Turns of that Freo has no public ramps! Managed to
get info that in East Freo there is a ramp and launched from there.
Slow boat out and finally in open water we start heading out. I
located the co ords on the gps and low and behold - it's nearly the
same didtance as from OR save a few mn. We would have probably made it
out from OR faster then launching from Freo.
Derwent was full of fish, but not one hit at all. Got snooked good an proper but both the fish and deckie! LOL!
1985 Boston Whaler Outrage 18 Johnson 140hp 4stroke
Just that it was on the way to the Derwent, so we stropped for 2 drifts. I was pressed for time, as we were late already looking for a launch ramp, so I didn't go fish the other FADs! Looking out for the next nice day
Cheers Dean. Looking forward to a fish on your boat.
1985 Boston Whaler Outrage 18 Johnson 140hp 4stroke
On my computer program Alfred, it shows OR to Derwent 32NM. Freo heads to Derwent 26.5NM but yes you have 2NM slow pace through the river!
Bugger all in it and then you have to drive home, all said OR would bve my pick if i lived up that way. The Derwent shows alot of fish all the time but it gets a fair bit of pressure and shuts off easily. Areas just off the derwent ie schooling fish bite well :)
I went driftbaiting yesterday at Tworocks and Soupster was in company.I wanted to get some baldchin as they're my fav and we did about 20 drifts for 7 baldys and two dhufish to 10kg......awesome day & weather!
Dean - Ive never actually caught that many fish directly on the Derwent itself. Youll find that the fish will actually school away from the wreck itself and this is what Ryan is refering too (I think).
Just need to sound around the area till you find them. Can be different spots each time.
Yeah, next time I head out of OR, the few nm is not worth saving if you factor in time for the drive down and back and traffic both ways and gas to tow the boat.
All in all it was a long haul for just two drifts at Club Marine and the Derwent.
1985 Boston Whaler Outrage 18 Johnson 140hp 4stroke
Had a ball driftbaiting Tuesday and continued on with targeting Metro Spaniards today with 2 fish coming onboad and the Halco crazy deep and Laser pro 190 doing the damage!

Very rarely holds fish in comparison to the other Fads. If you went on to the derwent theres other Fads in a couple of k's of there.
