North Mole help

I am planning a North Moleathon on Thursday and probably Friday. I haven't fished there for awhile and not that often. I am just wondering if the blowies are bad on the side where the canteen is?

Seabreeze is suggesting south westers will be blowing Thursday and an east north easterly breeze on Friday. Which part of the mole would you fish in those wind conditions.
Many thanks, Colin Hay

I'me very lazy, lately I only really use lures and up the lighthouse end, which side depending on the swell and the wind.

North Mole!

The blowies are pretty close to the rocks there Colin. They sit about 10 or so metres out. I still think maybe its worth giving the Lighthouse end a crack. Nice gutter formation on the right side and water is constant flowing if its a high tide.

There's always Gardies and Herring milling about to kick about some time as you want for that run in the gutter there!

Hope my little knowledge on the Moles help.

Thanks.

Blowies are not that bad as in swan river, but u might get a few using prawns. try and other baits if u want. what i reckon is that on thurs,u shud fish on the right side cuz then the wind shud be blowin from ur back and vice versa. Gd luck!

Blowies!

Speaking of Blowies....

I have recently heard that blowies use to be fed on regularly by tuna, an old guy i met told me that use to enter the peel estuary and wipe them out. Anyone else heard of this as I may be doing some studies on this later.

Thanks guys

I am planning to use california squid, crabs and mulies on my big rod and to throw out some lures and soft plastics on my lighter gear.
I might try the lighthouse to start off with and move around depending on the results.
Thanks again.
Re: the blowies being eaten by tuna, someone mentioned something similar in a post here awhile back. Might be a good place to start your research Scott.

I've flicked around a few

Tue, 2008-05-27 23:30

I've flicked around a few soft plastics at the north mole and found the blowies were close to the rocks. If I let the SP sink out wide it was fine, but if you stop it near the rocks the blowies chew holes in it. Dont touch it if you keep it moving though.

Didnt take SP's rigged up bait style on the bottom either (gulp worms). I think they might be a bit heavier near th kiosk though as I hadnt seen too many near the lighthouse. Perhaps because its a bit calmer near the kiosk?

Hopefully the hours put in will be rewarded with a nice pinky. Just dont forget light combo for a bit of fun while you wait for the biggie.

The herring have been going

Tue, 2008-05-27 23:50

The herring have been going nuts at the kiosk so try getting a few there for a feed and keep a few for slab or chunk bait for the pinkies near the lighthouse mate.

When i fished the kiosk a few days ago for pinkies I ended up catching over 20 herring on my big rods rigged with whole fresh fish/squid on 7/0 snoods and getting one on each bloody hook!

Thanks again guys

Yeah I plan to take a heavier rod coupled up with my Shimano big baitrunner long cast in the hope of snavelling a pinky and my Berley dropshot coupled with my Stradic 2500 fi for some smaller stuff.
Last time I was there I saw some pretty big Buff Bream. I might have a try for them on the light gear for a bit of fun.

The weather looking pretty good for Thursday and Friday. Low winds, scattered showers easing after Thursday morning. The swell will be right up on Thursday morning, but will drop off Thusday evening and Friday.
