My new boat

I picked up this little Runabout today, I am really pleased with it and am now all ready for my move to Albany.

My daughter loved it, as you can see.

I will probably stick to the river unless it's a really good day, I will have precious cargo on board.  I have already been on line pricing up VHF radios, EPIRBS etc, any advice on safety gear will be gladly accepted

Not bad for $2000Smile

I was told by someone at work about the Epirb's changing.  They look to be about the $500 mark is that about right?  Anyone doing deals??

EPIRB's

Mon, 2008-11-24 19:19

 $440: http://www.biasboating.com.au/p-1002-gme-mt400-406-mhz-epirb-manual.aspx

$430: http://www.whitworths.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?cat=144&item=74522&intAbsolutePage=1

Just make sure it is a 406MHz as the 121.5MHz are being phased out.

The automatic ones are more expensive, they are the $500 - $550 ones you have probably been looking at.

And good luck getting a deal, as tried by many before you, there is apparently no money in them so they are what they are. But in reality, what price do you put on safety??

I got mine from there Adam, you just have to keep checking.  I was looking for about two months and missed loads, when I was looking at this one the bloke had another call so I just threw him the cash.

Huggy, thanks for the info much appreciated.

Colin....is it me or are coppers getting younger????Smile
