Lowrance LGC4000

Hi all,
I currently run a Lowrance LCX??? GPS (2006 model) which uses a LGC2000 external puck antennae. There is a LGC4000 for sale and was wondering if I install this, will it make my GPS function better. The 4000 has got good specs like 5Hz but will all this be useless if my head unit was sold with the old 2000 model? IE. the specs of my old head unit will only be compatable to the 2000?

Should tell tell you if the 4000 is compatable with that head unit. I use a 4000 with a global map7200 and it works fine
