Colin Barnett stated that if he was elected Premier he would tear them up.
Unfortunately, with the result of election it looks like no decisions are going to be made and then get through legislation for another 4 years.
Global examples suggest that WA is going to go backwards until the next election as every move will have to be agreed to by wheeling and dealing.
The only good thing is that we may see some improvements to infrastructure outside of Perth.
However, any plans to try and develop the Perth foreshore and Perth's transport system will be put on the back burner.
Increased trading hours and Daylight Saving also look gone.

The Liberal Party has long recognised the cultural and economic value of recreational fishing and boating in Western Australia.
Recreational boating and fishing is a way of life in WA. There are
over 640 000 recreational fishers in Western Australia, and the
recreational boating and fishing industries are estimated to be worth
over $1.5 billion annually to the state’s economy. Western Australia
now boasts the highest per capita boat ownership of any state in
Australia with over 85,000 registered boats.
However, the Labor Government has simply not considered the needs of
Western Australia’s recreational boaters, fishers and associated
industries. This arrogant and narrow minded approach needs to change.
Recreational Fishing
The seasonal recreational fishing bans introduced by Labor on 24
June 2008 are extremely restrictive. There is no question that it is
important for the environment and for the commercial and recreational
fishing industries that Western Australia’s fish stocks are well
managed into the future. The problem with Labor’s recreational fishing
ban, however, is that it was implemented without regard to the
lifestyle of WA’s boaters and anglers and without considering the
damaging economic impact it will have on the associated boating, tackle
and accommodation industries.
A Liberal Government will immediately establish an expert
recreational fishing panel to review the Labor Government’s ban and
evaluate the environmental, social and economic impact of the
restrictions, with a view to relaxing the bans.
A Liberal Government will be committed to ensuring there is an
appropriate balance between the need to manage fish stocks and the
ability of Western Australians to enjoy recreational fishing.
Recreational Boating
Boat ownership in Western Australia has grown enormously but there
have been no significant changes to boat harbour infrastructure in over
twenty years.
Western Australia simply needs more boat pens for commercial and
recreational vessels, as well as for visitors. This is particularly
true in the metropolitan area.
A Liberal Government will support a new marina to be developed at
Rous Head to address the need for more boat pens. The Liberal Party’s
view is that this project should be self funding and that the Fremantle
Port Authority should work with private enterprise to deliver the
marina.
Then, I suppose it depends on whether the consolidation and promulgation of policy rests with the minister or who will be selected as minister.
Liza Harvey (Hal Harvey's wife) has a comfortable lead in Scarborough. Were she allocated the appropriate ministerial position, one would think that is a good possibility.
That notwithstanding, it still could be.
Time will tell.

Before the election they supported the ban completely, but after the election was called, they changed their tune. They said they would review the ban, or refer it to a committe, sometime.
It will be interesting to see what happens at Rous Head too. Barnett is on file saying he didn't support the last development proposal for the area, but may support a limited marina instead.
agree with all of you but fishing for the future we all must think of it, as you have the killers and people like us that just like to go out for a feed and a little bit extra in the freezer. As you know some people kill, kill, then scream theirs no fish, same with crayfish, if we get 20 in the freezer & a couple of feeds while we're in Leeman, we'll pull the pots and say thats enough.
talks I know about with Troy Buswells PA and others in the lib party have said it would re-evaluated. That means we may still see V5 closures in the year, but a better distribution of the ban and timing to spare the holidays and a full blanket four month ban.
I believe the Libs in bed with the Nats would be sympathetic to rec-fishing and still preserve the stocks, but in a less heavy handed and more scientific way.
So lets all hope the make it over the line.

The V5 ban will still be implemented. They may "tweak" it to make it seem like they have done something, but in reality it will differ very little if at all from how it is now.
I would think things should be left alone ,as if the ban is thrown out.It wouldn't take to long and the pros will be back in fishing within 6 month.yes its not the best i agree but if we are to save our fish stocks then something has to be done, maybe a trade of. Fish right through and only one dhuie per person and a mixed bag of thre per person. No matter what happens yor not going to please everyone. there will always be those who think there hard done buy.
Good onya tommo77. A vote for greens is the death nell of your fishing. As for the Libs. If your hoping for a V5 ban reversal I think their will be more of a chance of a pro metro ban reversal myself.
If the Greens were in power the V5 ban would be for 12 months of the year, would probably be more like the V237 with Australias coastal waters declared a "sanctuary zone"
They dont want you to fish & god help us all if they ever get into power
Like always promise the world but do nothing.
I dont mind them putting some strategies in place to preserve fish stocks a month at a time or something.
I cant wait to see the price of fish before christmas???
This says it all so much for all the libs will remove the ban talk typical pre election wank personally I hope they dont see a day in power.
A Liberal Government will immediately establish an expert
recreational fishing panel to review the Labor Government’s ban and
evaluate the environmental, social and economic impact of the
restrictions, with a view to relaxing the bans.
With a view ...very open ended promising nothing gota love the wording with politicians @#$%^&*(
the Greens are so good wait until we are all sitting around in the dark wearing hemp undies and hugging possums for warmth. They are just as ruthless as any other self interest group but completely impractical.
Bob & I were talking last night maybe the ban is too late, maybe (Fisheries) should look at August to November, seems fish are spawning now or are they getting ready, just a thought from us, as the amount of bucks getting caught this last 4-6 weeks, What does everybody else think??
Or, your just getting better at fishing and your catches have improved....
As for spawning Lewie, the fish are not in a state that they need to be protected at the moment, give it another month and a half and that story will be very different.

Good question diji!
The period might be over by the time we find that out LOL!
Both parties have been very short on pre-ellection detail. For the purposes of the exercise, lets assume they do.
Then, from the only info available in here as kindly provided by Terry's thread http://fishwrecked.com/node/15329:
