Landbased Jurien Bay fishing
Submitted by Colin Hay on Mon, 2009-07-13 11:54
Has anyone undertaken any landbased fishing in Jurien Bay recently?
Any suggestions on where the fish may be biting up that way would be appreciated,
Many thanks,
Colin Hay

It might sound stupid
But I regularly fish the boat harbour chasing yellowtail for dhuie bait for the boat and get broken up by large tailor despite using tiny baits.
Fish it at night, burley up and expect the unexpected, my best went three kilos but lost plenty more equal or larger, big bream also frequent the area if your baits manage to get deep (I fish as slow sinking given the target species).

Hi Colin, 2 of my mates
Hi Colin,
2 of my mates went up for 3 days over the weekend and got jack... Apparently was very windy - they tried the jetty and breakwall at boat harbour.
Saying this, this time last year (actually may have been August) we had a magic couple of sessions on tailor including a few ripper's - all from the tip of the breakwall. All on lures (poppers, slices, plastics - took everything) and light gear.
The guy who runs the tackle store mentioned that a pinkie was pulled in from the jetty last week.

Thanks Bones Hopefully this weekend will be more like
last year.
I have seen a picture of that pinky, it was a cracker.

Also try Sandy Cape just north of Jurin bay
Sandy Cape Camping Ground, Off Indian Ocean Drive, Jurien Bay we were told that it has nice gutters and reef right up to the shore line maybe worth a look you could camp there over night too *LOL*
