knot in braid

hey there, while feeding line through the guides i must have done something wrong as a granny knot formed on my main line. i think line went under a loop on the spool.

being so fine i was unable to undo it.

just wondering how would this effect its strength? (knot ended up 10 m from the end)

got 150m on the spool n also quite expensive line so hope for some positive feed back :(

thanks

Over time it will burn threw it self and make it give way. I would take it off and have that piece of mind that im running strong braid. You never know when you'll hook the fish of a life time.

Knot the answer you want :-(

Yep I agree, It will compromise the line strength and is definately worth cutting out the knot. Lucky for you it's only 10 meters of line you will lose. Just think it could be worse...

Maybe a magnafying glass and sharp pin may get it undone or a pair of tweezers with a magnifying glass attached (also good to get splinters out) otherwise I wouldnt think it would comprimise the line strength any more than say the knot to join the leader to the braid. If it bothers you, just loose the 10 meters and if it then bothers you that you dont have a 'full spool' then get some more braid off ebay, cheap as from the states.

If you don't want to waste

If you don't want to waste it, take it all off and turn it around.

It's abit of work as you have to wind it off, then wind it off the spool it's on, then reload onto the reel, but it saves you the 10m.  In most fishing situations, you will never see the knot if you do this.

If you are worried about getting reaching the knot while there is a fish on, your bigger worry should be about being spooled.

Believe me if the fish has you down to the last 10m, you have a greater chance of being spooled then the knot going!

Alfred is right, that would be the only way you are going to save the 10 metres. Even managing to untie the knot will still create a weakness where the kink is.

Feel your pain. First time

Feel your pain. First time using a freshly spooled reel I was ballooning at night so couldn't see what was going on. Somehow the miserable little livey put a tangle the size of the balloon into my line and I wasted about 2hrs trying to pick it apart with no success. Ended up starting again and using the leftovers as backshot on my other reels.

n that spool hasn't even been outdoors yet, just piss farting with my reel after i spooled it.

expensive line = thinner diameter = not for careless ppl.

well guess i have to hit the tackle shops again soon :)
