Just saying hello.
I thought I should start myself off with a "Hi, my name is bob" thread.
Though my name is actually Chris and not bob, hello there! I originally come from Radelaide... errrr.... South Australia.... I moved here back in 2008, then went to the NT Last year, and Now I'm back here! (Long story). I am a military boy and work in the RAAF, my partner stays at home and apparently looks after the kids, which we have two of, one boy and one girl, we are also planing on at least one more. So the Falcon is getting upgraded to a more camping/family car, a Territory. I may not be old, at 25, but I have served my country, fished my country, and driven my country... not many people can say they have done all that by the time they are 40, let alone 25, so I think I have done alright.
Most of my fishing has been in a wee little area of the Yorke Penninsular, at a lovely place called Butlers Beach, or hillocks point, depending on who you talk to. But I have just started to get back into my fishing only to find that WA doesn't have the same sort of fishing I am used to. I have so far caught plenty of Whiting, but they are anything but edible at a around 12 - 15cm... I also caught possibly the cutest Flathead one could see, and yes, I have a pic! So my WA fishing has been less than good, I think I need to get a boat or something...
I am up North Perth suburbs, in Quinns Rocks, so if anyone has any tips they could share about fishing in this state I would love to hear them! I would love to know where people are catching edible size whiting, tommy ruff's and that fish you westies seem to love, the Taylor.
I would love to meet some of you one day and possibly even go fishing with some of you, unless any of you feel like you are not the kind of people one should meet =P
Anyway, thought I'd say gidday,
Chris.

Welcome aboard Chris
No need for a boat mate. Plenty of action from the shore. If you get a Territory then your options open up a fair bit. I'm not far from you and I do cruise up the coast as much as I can. This weekend is looking a bit ordinary. I fish alone a lot (well, with my dog) so there is always a chance to tag along. Just drop me a PM if you get the urge.

Hi Chris, welcome. Plenty of
Hi Chris, welcome. Plenty of herring to be caught along the beaches right now round your way, good sizes too. Should have no trouble getting something. Plenty of good size whiting to be had as well. I fish up your way every now and then, anywhere from Hillary's northwards, so if you wanna tag along then drop a PM.
Your entitled to your opinion, it's just that yours is stupid.

Welcome Chris. You have a lot
Welcome Chris. You have a lot of great coastline up that way, Mindarie, Alkimos, Yanchep, Two Rocks, Guilderton and everything inbetween! This is only my opinion, but a medium-heavy 12ft surf and a 7-9ft light casting outfit would cover most applications. If you are more adventurous, there are some real knowledgeable members on here who take land based fishing to an extra level.
There is plenty of lovely beach to explore and even more if you are willing to get offroad. But you don't have to reinvent the wheel either, a bit of time searching these forums will provide you with some great places to start hunting for quality fish and how

Welcome aboard mate! Great
Welcome aboard mate! Great introduction there, I'm sure you will fit right in and get to meet plenty of the FW crew. If I still had my boat I would invite you out to go hunt a few bigger WA fish.
