Submitted by Dale177 on Sun, 2010-10-31 17:27
ok so i'm looking and getting a decent quallity blow up boat with an outboard, around 3.5-4.5m or so, i'm wondering how far would be safe to take one of these out, and what would be good to target?
cheers.

make sure its not pvc
hey mate
if you gonna get an inflatable boat, make sure it is made of hypalon not pvc, hypalon is far more superior.
arancia acillies make a great line of ribs ,

some guys from vctoria
some guys from vctoria recently took a 3.6m rib from lancelin and did 2 dives on the Key Biscayne from it. Pretty sure they were outside the legal limits but they did it and survived. Plpenty of experince between them though.

Inflatable
Hey Dale.
Your lucky day. I've got a 5metre ex navy zodiac for sale. Needs a motor but is licenced till march. most of the standard gear comes with it. Ali floor, hypalon...
worth a look, and make an offer.

hows it going mate ive got a 4.4 rib & have been out as far as the fads there awesome boats in all conditions you do loose alot of deck space for the size of them but for what i need its perfect im normaly out by myself so plenty of room personaly i would stick to a rib not the blow up hull one & as others have said if you have the money for a hypalon one go that way there alot harder to puncture but if you use common sense & be careful the pvc are alright i gave up the gaff & use landing net now & the best thing is i use bugger all fuel ive got 2 x 25l tanks & have never used up both

cheers for the reply guys, i need to be able to diflate it and put it in the back of the car, is this possible with the larger boats that have ali flooring? is the floor 1 whole piece or a few?
i'm not buying this till late december, but if Rod_Holder still has his around then it sounds like a good option (if i can get it in the car)
how far out do you need to go for snapper? are sharks a worry in this boat?

ex surfclub
hey mate if you are looking at one you can deflate and put in youre car, have a look around for an ex surfclub inflatable they have a removable fibreglass floor that comes out in three sections once deflated then it can be rolled up into a large canvas bag if you needed to they usually run a 25 or 30 hp on the back so theres plenty of grunt there if you need it,ive got one ive mounted a big water tight crate up under the bow cover that carries my safety and fishing gear and put two rod holders onto either side of the transom works awersome. there are negative points tho being they are wet boats, and they are pretty bumpy,as for seaworthy ive been out in 4- 5 m swell with near gale force winds off the east coast in nz in one with no probs,(did need to change my jocks tho lol ) so with all the right gear and experience you can basiclly go anywhere youre fuel tanks will allow you .

h20 max import lianya boats
h20 max import lianya boats from china, they would be able to get hypalon, but they're cheapskates so they probably only have pvc.

re : me again
Hey Dale
Ali floor comes apart, pieces about 800by 1400 wide. I've got a 12v compressor that will pump it in about 5-10mins. You'll love this thing for sure. I've pulled the motor off and want to keep the trailer too. So this is probably a good option for you. Depends on your car, but would fit into the boot i'd say. Navy used to launch out of the subs
