not a 100 percent but looks like one of those weed whittin my mate got one out while fishin for sand whitting not sure of the correct name but only seen one and was told the were vegerterian so thats why there a rare catch, but i could be way off the mark my mates was alot greener

Ha neither best throw it back
Just a small bait robbing species really, best avoided if possible. I've picked them up around sea grass areas alot.

Father in law caught 4 weedy
Father in law caught 4 weedy whiting (the blue ones) amoungst Kgs last week, he kept them and reckons there almost as good as the KG's (he can eat them - Kgs for me :-) )

they are ok to eat taste just like any whiting does ive eaten a few of them caught some in the swan and around coogee

The rig is a basic whiting setup on 2kg braid and a 4ft ugly stick

Sure they're a type of wrasse.
Nothing to do with whiting family in Oz.

Blue Weed Whiting
I think this is a Blue Weed Whiting, despite it looking more green (bit like the variation in colours you get with Blue Groper). It's certainly not in the Wrasse family, nor is it the same family as the Southern and Western School Whiting

Just the way her pectoral fin colour matches her eyes, HaHa.
Weed whiting is what we called fishing in Princess Royal harbour.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.
