How can i fix my reel?
Submitted by Fisherman Mikey on Sat, 2011-11-26 15:36
Hi guys, when i went fishing last week i noticed the drag on my reel wasnt making that "ticking noise" when i put tension on the reel and after a few casts the drag would loosen and i would have to keep tightening it, i was just wondering if there is a way to fix it or if i have to buy a new one. The reel is only a cheapie, Silstar Hypa Drive.
Cheers,
Mikey

Fixing Reel
1- I would store it away from all other rods, reels and tackle preferably in a dark corner on it's own
2- If it still hasn't come good after a day or so..I would verbally abuse it whilst using lots of threatening, animated body language
3 - still not behaving...Time to get dinkem grab a hammer and smack it around a bit
4- if it wasn't broken intitially it should be by now...
5- Sneak to tackle shop and buy yourself a xmas prezzie

Not necessarily
Obviously a young bloke. Time to learn how to look after your reels. Even cheapos with maintenance will last a fair while.
My advice would be to drop in to your local tackle store and have them take a look. That shouldn't cost and they will give you some good advice. If the reel is RS then they will help you choose something of worth that suits your budget and requirements.

No one is getting on his case. They're just saying in a fun way that the cost of getting it fixed would be more expensive than the value of the reel. Why is everybody so sensitive these days
