Help with Walpole

Hey All,

I'm taking the boat to Walpole for a couple of days later this month. Has anyone got any advice on fishing locations down that way? Anything on types of species in the Inlet would help as well. I've heard it's a bit of a flattie/KG Mecca.

Cheers mate. The bream look a fair size. Sounds perfect for getting the kids into some decent fishing in a safe environment. How deep is the inlet on average?

basically if you are with in 250m of the shore line you will be wanting to tilt your motor.. as most parts are 1m and less around the outside..in the middle its around 5m in parts..you can see the colour changes in the water quiet easy to see your depth change. I bought a nav map best 30 bucks i spent !

we scored plenty of fish (KG) at mouth of franklin and around the beach / large sanddunes just on the left of the mouth.

some shallow water near mouth so stick to channel markers.

just move around and you will find fish

beautiful part of the world mate

Mouth

Yep, try out around the mouth where the ocean meets the inlet, theres a spot called skippy rock, once your there and see it you will know what I'm talking about.  Can use soft plastics for skippy/silver bream.  Plenty of KG's in the inlet and I'm not 100% sure where the bream are at the moment, depends if they have any rain down that way.

Skippy rock

Sat, 2009-01-17 13:04

Skippy rock may be ok hour either side of high tide mate!  I had a snorkel around the rock and didnt see anylife at all, and didnt get one bite...this was 2 hours either side of low tide but.  Plenty of Bream in close to  Walpole/Colemine beach...Most of the bream i saw caught were people using whitebait on a small set of gangs..casting it out, and slowly bringing it back in. We caught ours on prawns..but whitebait was the go!  Enjoy

We were down at Walpole at

We were down at Walpole at Christmas and caught plenty of good sized bream up the river at Nornalup - there's loads of good snags and holes to fish once you pass the village and provides a good alternative if the inlet is a bit slow or too windy. When we were down the inlet was still pretty brown all the way to the mouth but hopefully its flushed out a bit by now

Cheers
