Help with Cervantes

hi all

tugging the boat up to Cervantes tomorrow for a quick day trip, will be the first time we have fished out from there and any help on where to start would be appreciated. Have heard that the first bank is a good starting point but if anyone can suggest anything else I would be grateful.

Boat is an ocean whaler so don't mind going wide.

Thanks in advance.

Took the old boat there once, fished just behind the first reef, dhuies, pinkies, big baldies, tuna, mackerel and yellowtail kings. Really great spot would love to get up there again one day

As beau said behind the first reef north to south is plenty off good shallow ground  but if u wana head wide there's a few good drop offs that we've done well on  but deffs don't need to head to far for a good feed

Hi samo

Wed, 2016-05-11 12:22

arrived in Cervantes just after 7am on our way out by 7.30am. Wind was from the east and a lot stronger than forecast was probably close to 18kts in the morning so I was a little lumpy until about 12.30-1pm then the wind backed off.

Found plenty of ground and fished some marks that kindly given to me, there was plenty of bait and small fish showing on the sounder Bu all we managed was an ok snapper.

Launch and retrieve no probs the beach is very hard, some other fishos were retrieving as we arrived back at the beach and they were using max trax under the trailer wheels which they let us use and it made it very easy (thanks to those guys) but I don't think we would have had any probs without them.

Great spot up there and am keen to return in the near future for another crack.
