Hedland Mackies

25/02:

Got the boat in the water at 6AM and trolling lure around about have an hour later. I only have a simple sounder and no gps, so just focussing on trolling near the channel.

At 12PM I still hadn't caught a fish (how bad is that!) and decided to head back to land as it was getting quite choppy and bloody hot. Did keep the lures in the water and at 1PM it finally went off! My first ever mackie was on and was well happy with the size.

Trolled over the same spot again and hit a nice golden trevally, and the 3rd time over, a 2nd mackie hit the lure! Pretty happy with the day's fishing in the end.

4/03:

didn't really plan on going out, was way to choppy. Long story short, did get the misses to go out with me for a bit and threw a lure out the back. 2minutes later, fish on! Nice mackie again! Great battle on the terez and put her back in the water after the pics.

Headed back to land after that, as Sofie was about to go hanging over the side. Not bad for an hour on the water aye.

Pretty much blind yeah.. not really productive but I had nothing to go by. No birds at all! After the first fish I was just roughly working the same area and that seemed to work pretty well!

I really need to get a decent sounder / gps.

Good shit mate, have found the spaniards roam around away from the pack, have often hit em just after going through the boil up, good work mate
