gaff

Hey guys, if anyone could help it would gladly be appreciated, I saw a video from oz bout fishing. except in this vid they did not use a gaff with a hook, more like a stick with a loop of wire that closed on the fishes tail when captured... Would anyone happen to know what this is called and where would I find a good pic of this 'gaff' and vid of it in action??? Tx any help is gladly appreciated...

we have something that sounds like that , ist a shark snare ,all you do is place the loop in front of its head and when it swims through you pull it tight and the shark is then lasood around the body and as it goes through further it gets caught around the tail and cant get loose, just pull it out of the water tail first

They had one of these on a fishing show, I do forget which. It was a tailrope on a stick and it wasn't a cray snare.

Yeah thats pretty much it apart from the one I saw was smaller, and had webbing, not ss wire in it. They do point out that one is for billfish or whatever though.
