whats the fine for fishing in freshwater lakes like kingfisha's lake? I don't want to go ever if we get fined $500 or something. Any warnings involved?

I'm not sure of this so
I'm not sure of this so double check with Fisheries & the Rangers.
I think you will find the penalties are the same as if you were caught fishing somewhere like Mundaring Weir. From memory the fine can be up to $1000 (more if you actually have fish in your possession) & confiscation of all your gear. Wether you got a warning or not would be left to the rangers discretion. So they might give you a warning or they might just grab you on the spot. If locals have been complaining about people fishing in a particular spot & you got caught there then you would pprobably get done straight away, no warnings.
No fish is worth that kind of risk, especially a stinking bloody carp.

fishing in fresh water
Because this "person" is fishing where he should not he still needs a Fresh water fishing licence anyway.
I hope he gets fined.

Yeah, I'm not gonna go
Yeah, I'm not gonna go suburban lake fishing again. Too many people telling us off. But up there in the canning would be good. So is it allowed to go fishing there without a license

Yes you can fish upstream of
Yes you can fish upstream of Kent St Weir but you do need a freshwater fishing licence to do it legally. You need the freshwater fishing licence to fish in any body of freshwater that is not on privately owned land. If where you want to fish is on private land you need the land owners permission. Licences only cost a few bucks & you can get it online so just skip buying your next 2 lures & grab a licence instead.

If you are a minor you can
If you are a minor you can bash grannies and break into houses with impunity so Im pretty sure pond fishing wont be a problem.
Im pretty sure they cant issue on the spot fines to minors.
worst case the ranger will give you a lift home
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

I cant see how they can fine
I cant see how they can fine you at all as these areas where the ponds are located are Public Open Space that is vested in the shire. Most Public Open Space is reserved for recreation and fishing is a form of recreation.

Wake up people, where do you
Wake up people, where do you think the overflow goes when we get our winter storm rains, straight into the Canning river. Stocking feral pests in waterways is an environmental disaster in the making if not already taking place. Just check out the jumping carp in the Illinois River that is threatening the Great lakes and costing millions trying to keep them out. Been seeing more and more people fishing the lakes near the baseball stadium off Nicholson Rd need to get fisheries in to clean that out as well.

Don't know the answer to your
Don't know the answer to your question Lachie, but I guess if you have a freshwater license and there are no No Fishing signs, I doubt they would be able to issue a fine. Personally, to see some dirty stinking carp getting removed out of Western Australian waterways (suburban or not) really can't be a bad thing.

Chinbald, no one here is
Chinbald, no one here is stocking these introduced species they are already there and in the case of Koi, Carp and Spangled Perch are already breeding. The best control for these pests are Australian Native fish such as Murray Cod but unbelievably Fisheries and Murdoch Uni went and removed that 15kg one which would have been keeping their numbers under some control. Without fish that will prey on these species or fisherman to remove them their numbers will rise. Fishing in suburban lakes will continue to increase in popularity until Fisheries and Water Authority provide more options for fishermen to chase freshwater fish in Western Australia.

Young fella
Have a read of the requirements stated in this document.
www.fish.wa.gov.au/Documents/recreational_fishing/licences/rec_licence_freshwater_angling.pdf
I would think that the only restrictions enforced would be the ones from the local council unless you are targeting species indigenous to WA and/or fall under fisheries regulations (trout).
You could/should contact the local councils and ask about their local laws. Personally I support the catching and non return of feral/non Australian species. It would be good if all these man made feature lakes were stocked with marron or yabbies, local catfish anjd maybe a larger fresh water species from over east which are less invasive. Go and have some fun, rape and pillage these lakes remove these pests.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

Caught out
I once saw some people of a certain origin (think continent north of australia) with buckets pouring it into suburban lake. i thought they were dumping oil or rubbish of some sort. then a few weeks ago it clicked when i saw the carp stories on news etc. these guys were putting fish in. wish i had a go at them but i was too young at the time.
personally i can't understand why people still make a fuss about buying a freshwater license. it's not expensive, just buy the blooming thing and then you dont need to keep posting threads where you ask how much you get fined for fishing without one. you certainly get fined much more than if you just pay the license for the next 10 years. you pay for a good reason and with these idiots putting fish in local water bodies i see the price going up very soon. so if you catch these things kill them and dont put them back and if you catch people putting them in there kill them and use them as cray bait.
so sick of arrogant, inconsiderate humans. if you want to fish carp, fk off to where they live naturally. we've had enough issues with ferals.
Give me a fish and I will eat for a day, teach me to fish and I will starve to death.
