i have been doing quite a bit of fishing around the traffic bridge in freo laterly, getting a few here and there but the reason why i love going down there so much is that there is always somethign differant down there or a new fish that i havnt caught there before! last night i was down there and as i was walking up 2 the car i was very suprised to see some guy about to go diving in the middle of the night by himslef under the bridge, and you all know how strong the current is there my mate and i couldnt even get our size 6 leads down to the bottem! CRAZY in my oppinion

Hi Jonya
I haven't fished there, so I am not sure how strong the current is. But I would guess it is about the same as near the mouth of the Hawkesbury River. Try fishing an hour or so either side of the change of tide and cast a live bait or a mulie into the eddies caused by pilons. That is where the mulloway will come to look for food or wait in ambush.
Some cubed up mulies as burley wouldn't hurt.
All the best, Colin Hay

I used to work in a pub in Freo and go down there after work.
Bloody great spot to sit on an outgoing tide and just watch the harbour.
One night saw a fish about 4 foot leap 2-3 out of the water, looked magic.
so peaceful underthere, but dont go down their if quiet is what you want when there are loading the scrap steel ship.
Crab net is a handy thing to take down with you are well.
Seen a few crabs taken in a session from a net.
