Fishing at swanbourne

While the rising tide coincides with dawn, I thought I might try my hand at catching some tailor (or salmon if i'm really lucky) on poppers. Want to head up to the capricorn club in yanchep, but given the chance of rain in the next day or two, somewhere closer might be a better option.

I'm thinking swanbourne would be best, but I dont know where to fish there. Last time I thought I found the right spot but it said no fishing (just south of the surf club area). I'm guessing then that you would park near the surf club and walk north, casting towards reef? How far north do you normally walk and are there any other no fishing areas I need to be aware of? Looking at google maps there doesnt look like theres a lot of reefy areas (though south of cottesloe does)

about 10 years ago, my dad was fishing swanbourne close to shore in a charter boat and had connected 500kg 'rope' to the trace and to his main leader. he hooked up and it ended up towing them around for 20 minutes until the 'rope' snapped.
