Can anyone tell me does an interstate visitor need a fishing licence to keep a feed of fish and does that person need a WA skippers ticket to drive another persons boat or is the licence thats issued in there home state good enough to drive a boat on .I got a couple of mates coming from over east and one from the NT to fish in October .When I lived in the NT you didnt even need to register your boat only the boat trailer let alone have any sort of licence to fish .Cheers JP

As far as I'm aware, as long as at least one person on board has a skippers ticket, anyone can drive the boat. As for fishing licences, as long as at least one person on board has the rfbl, you can all fish, but only keep the bag limit of one licence holder. Same for two licences, you can keep two bag limits or boat limit, whichever one is reached first.
Whatever you end up doing, make sure you know what your limits are, because as the skipper, you will ultimately be responsible for everyone on board. I think there was a guy on here not long ago who got done by fisheries because his deckies licence had expired and they had their quota of fish. Can get messy if you're not careful.

It's the person who has the fishing license who is ultimately responsible. Not the skipper.

Interstate
From the Transport website
"If you hold a valid/current interstate or foreign skipper's ticket, recognised by the Department and listed in the skills recognition section of this website and you enter Western Australia, as a visitor or with the intention of permanently residing in the State, it will be taken that you hold a recreational skipper's ticket until three months have elapsed since you entered the State."
Just need to get at least 1 boat fishing licence to keep 1 bag limit.
