Fish Seasons

Just thought i would start up a fairly useful thread for all us keen fishos about what time of the year fish start to usually run well in the metro areas, i know that you can catch most all year around but any advice helps!! Some fish species are:

Tailor

Salmon

Mulloway

Pink Snapper

Dhufish

Tuna

Bonito

Garfish/Herring/Whiting

Skippy

Squid

Flathead/Flounder

Black bream/Tarwhine

Blue Manna Crabs

Please include in your own opinion a brief description of where and what time of the day is best for trying to catch some of these species and feel free to add more fish in this thread!!

Just gives alot of newbies to the site and to fishing itself a bit more help with it all.

Thanks alot, Tommo

Tailor- best 2 hours before

Tue, 2008-10-07 20:04

Tailor- best 2 hours before sunrise and 2 hours before sunset. rocky, reefy terrain for bigger ones and sandy bottom for small ones. mulies, whitebait, bluebait, gardies, squid, prawns, lures.

Gardies/herring/whiting-- any time of day Ive found. sandy bottom. herring like rougher weather. squid, prawn, occy, fish baits (mulie, whitebait, bluebait,), anything really :)

sippy-- structure. any time of day but are really active just before sunset. will take any bait or lure.

flathead-- sandy bottom. any time of day but im not sure. whole baby occy/squid, mulies, prawn, lures.

Bream-- STRUCTURE. pylons bridges snags. not as active during rain. prawns, mulies, lures.

thats all i know because i have caught em. might be a bit wrong on some things biut its stuff that i have found.

Salmon,squid and Tailor

Salmon are usally around metro area easter time i think.
Have caught them in the boat and also from the beach around rockingham.I catch them on mullies on gangs and also s/p.

Squid are easier to catch early morn or as the sun goes down. Around any weed and sand patches in depths from 1m.
I get alot in around 3m to 4m.Various colours of squid jigs

Tailor are best caught also as the sun is setting.
Caught them on heaps of different beachs around rockingham. Also caught them from boat around breaking water at reefs. Use mullies on gangs or hard or soft lures.
