Fish Frames research results

Anyone else recieve some feedback from your fish frame donations? Just got a letter in the mail from fisheries with some info on a few fish that I donated the frames of, thought it may be of interest to you all to see the age to size of a couple fish.

Dhufish - 1021mm Female - 24 years old - Estimated 16.5kg *

Dhufish - 691mm  Female - 9  years old - Estimated 5.4kg

Snapper - 709mm No data - 6 years old - Estimated 4.1kg

Anyone else have some more of their own details on fish frames they donated?

* This was my "20kg" Dhuie (on my scales) and just for the record we did try to release it but after such a long fight on light gear she was unable to be succesfully revived.

Also got my letter last week with some results.

Dhufish                      634mm      F      7yr old        est 4.2kg

Dhufish                      644mm      M     7yr old        est 4.4kg

Baldchin Groper          465mm      F      13yr old      est 2.3kg

Baldchin Groper          475mm      F      13yr old      est 2.4kg

I was a bit suprised at the age of the baldies . Pretty old for a not so big fish.

My 1000+mm Dhufish (female) was released to breed again. I hope.

I do enjoy, and get a lot of satisfaction by donating stuff for research into our fishery.

I have also tagged a few fish and hopefully one day would like to see a re capture of one of them...

Cheers for your results Terry. I think it's very interesting to see this data, glad they gave us some feedback from the frames. I'd be interested to know how old a 6kg+ Baldie was then!

great to see fisheries give some feed back on the fish frame study and the contributions you two have made to their data about the great five

interesting

interesting stuff.  At 24 years, a dhufish is just past half his eventual age, but we don't think about that when we catch them.  Rewarding info for your effort guys.

Have put in quite a number all through Bluewater Myaree, dhuies, snapper and some big baldies and no feedback whatever - perhaps it is in the mail ???????
