Exmouth jigging assist cord

Hey guys,

Heading to Exy soon and will be jigging up there for the first time.

Just curious as to what weight assist cord people use up there? Jigs are 85-160g and PE3 outfit.

Metro and down south I use the varrivas ss 20 (100lb) cord. Would this be enough to pull most fish from the bottom up north or should i go up in thickness. Only worried about getting bricked by demersals not snip offs by macks.

Cheers

Id be more worried about sharks mate. Your better fishing pe5 or pe6 and skull dragging them up. The Sharks don't play games up there pe3 will get drilled most times

I have a PE4 outfit if i need some extra pulling power but no heavier unfortunately so i expect to loose a few jigs. I might just stick to PE3 inside the reef then.

take at least twice the number of jigs as you think you'll need.

Between the Sharks/Mackies and various unstoppables you'll lose plenty.

ps. That cord should be fine just keep an eye on it after every fish and replace any that look 'dodgy'.

Cheers for that.

I have about 30 cheaper jigs and at least 20 good jigs but at $30-$45 a jig id rather they stay in the bag!

With a tonne of plastics im hoping that will get me through 2.5 weeks.

jigs abit of a crack last year off Ningaloo and found myself generally out fished by bait.

Often hooking either unstoppable cods or nuisance fish like Trevally.

Wont be wasting my time this year.
