coral bay holiday

well im back from my holiday to coral bay

would of liked to be posting up pics of some trophy fish , but the fish didnt play ball.

more to the point the wind didnt . it basicaly blew its guts out for the whole time .i did manage a a few fishn outings ,with probably the best day promised to the family , ski biscuit. sight seeing , but i realy cant conplain with a lot of good people met an prviois fishing stories talked about over several beers.

the best fish caught was a 12.5 kg cobia boated , caught on a floating guardie while we drifted around bottom fishing , did manage a couple of good size spanglies a couple of banded snapper ,heaps of sharks , nw blowies an grinners or lizard fish heaps of em. will have a few pics to post up in a week or two,...most of the photos taken were of whales ,had a very close  call with one while drift fishn ,thought the the boat was going over, sheeeeeeeeeet meself.that reminds me the sea rescue people up there do a great job ,just had to call em up on the way out with ya stats i.e fuel amount people on board destination an return time. gave ya piece of mind in trying conditons, knowing if somthn went wrong somone would come lookn for ya

met a heap of good crazy fishos who all had there fair share of fishn stories an wind blown efforts .some success was evident but the general topic was ,,,, I HOPE THE WIND DROPS OF , OR THEY RECKON ITS GONNA BE BETTER TOMORROW,.

still i had a great FAMILY HOLIDAY , and after 3 tripps at this time of the year will not be draggn the boat to coral bay next year in september or october.

special hello to dan an gina will see you guys next year ,in july or even may

also to andie an scotty get your arses up to onslow next may , youll love it

an to the owner of''' insomniac '''' ANDIE SPENT  HOURS AN HOURS GETN YOUR STARTER MOTOR UP AN GOING SO YOU COULD FISH. A JOB THAT COULD OF COST YOU HUNDREDS  AN HUNDREDS, an what thanks did he get zzzzziiiiiiippppp . a simple carton of beer would of been a good start after all if your boat had been dragged to exmouth for repairs  just the fuel cost alone would of pinged the pocket let alone the price of labour, cant see andie to kean to help out the next poor bugger with outboard problems

anyway ill get some pics up in aweek or two

hope youse out there in the FISHWRECKED WORLD had a good school holiday adventure . i did !!!!!!!!!!!!!

and just go's to show that you should not go fishing without me.

i hope there is some cobia left for me or does it look like it's been shot with a shotgun.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

only joking mate.

anybody thats ever gaffed a large cobia will know that it's not easy .

hit them once ,hit them hard ,and strait in the boat no f#$king around.

boat

Fri, 2005-10-28 07:35

always in it just the depth that varies

me boat goes fairly well, learnt it limitations at the bay though ,i.e it doesnt handle a big rough traveling sea. which was the bain at coral bay .had abit of a situation going through south passage, half way through a tackle box stored up the front of the boat went c@%t up so me mate dan went to rectify the prob just as weve come over a big choppey swell ,bang goes the back of his head under the cuddy cab ,bang down goes his head right in the corner of the tackle box ,ouch, splitting his eye open two thirds knocking himself out ,blood pissing every where.comes up dazzed as f#@k groveling trying to hang on to the grab rail, i cant stop to render assistance due to another million choppey swells looming up in front of us,anyway we get out the back of the reef.and the wind picks up to a mild cyclone , dans not looking that flash,so we slap a frozen pack of squid on his now black eye and set the rods to troll down to north passage .one minute we are doing about 5 to 6 knots next thing were surfing down green backs doing 10 to 12 knots .well well the lines are tankled the winds still picking up and weve both had enough of this ,in come the bird nested lures and we surf all the way to north passage.1 of the only times i was happy to be putting the boat on the trailer, anyway we were back at camp by 10 in the morning.,and the wife reckons ive been fishing an wonts a promise to spend the next day with the family, marvelous stuff,
tally for the "fishing trip"
1 split open black eye
2 tangled riggs
50 bucks fuel
a trillion hooks sinkers swivels all over the floor of the boat
a promise to the wife
an a couple of hard earned lessons on the boats limitations
