Hi all,
Long time reader, first time poster.
So after years of land based fishing we have finally brought a boat. Fraser 5.2, shes nothing fancy but will more then do the job!
Have taken her out a few times with mixed results, even got an undersize duey (released ofcourse) but as we are amatuers its very hit / miss.
What i am pretty keen on is gettting into some of the Snapper in cockburn sound, but to be honest i dont know where to start?
Im not asking for any co-ords here or anything, but what is the best way to go about this?
I understand that burley is essential and that timing is important, but from there???
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Fishing on the change of light is huge with snapper as is tide change. A strong high tide is best but I believe any will be better than none, never really had much luck with a full moon and apparently new moon is best but I haven't tried it.
Start by going off the well known patches like the D9, sulphur rock, gravel patch and the power station and just have a sound around occaisonally and some nice bumps might show up :). As for tackle I believe a full squid on two snelled hooks with a no3-5 bean sinker works best but I'm still open to suggestions.
Apart from that, the best advice I can give is use the search bar on the left and search something like 'Ryan Thipthorp Cockburn Snapper' and a heap will come up, he's very successful in the sound targetting snapper :).
Best of luck matey!

Yeah anchor + burley on a lump mate. Some people say u gotta motor around and look for schools and others say burley up and the schools will come to you, not sure which one is better but I'm lazy and don't like using fuel so I anchor and burley :P. Another thing I noticed is that putting mulie cubes (about 1 fish worth every minute or two for the first 10 mins then one every 5 mins is what i work off) in the water works better than chook pellets/bought burley coz they just attract crappy fish like trumpys and snook, don't quote me on it, some people may prefer pellets though! All just about getting out there man and seeing what works for you

Excellent, yeah thought that might be the case. Im sure ill suss out what works best with trial / error, but will defs give the mulie only technique a go.
