Christmas/NY fishing plans?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2008-12-17 22:13
Just wondering what everyone's Christmas/New Years fishing plans are? I'm heading to Denmark/Walpole to do lots of river fishing and maybe the spot of offshore if the weather permits. Can't wait for the changeup of game gear to light tackle black bream from the snags. Hopefully will get some good snaps.

Tin-Palace on the water
Tin-Palace on the water is the top priority for next weekend, then a few shake down days to tidy up a few things and hopefully if the weather is good a few days around Rotto with the family on board again. biggest issue is still have not fitted the new dash ~ GPS and throttles yet...
so need to finish off that minor hassle ...lol...
May just try a bit of trolling around Fish Hook bay again and off course have to jigg a few horses off the NW of Rotto as well.
cheers

over the xmas break
I'm hoping to get out from Two Rocks a bit and possibly do a bit of exploring around the FFB off Point Peron. And get some value return from my craypots.
As for New York, I heard the fishing there wasn't so great Adam, so I might give that a miss.

Heading down to Busselton Chrissy until after New years. Plan to do a bit of fishing and diving around Cape Naturaliste and Geographe Bay(my childhood stomping ground). If any one is headed down that way and wants a fish/dive send me a PM as i will be using my Dads 6m boat, so i can get out wide, and can take a few onboard with me.

The Cape
Hi Bluetonic, its usual to find Yellowtail kings lurking close to the shoreline at the base of the light house and out towards wrights bank. At this time of year its also not uncommon to find them out at the coral lumps(along with about 20 other boats!).
Christmas 2 years ago there were a fair few tuna blue and yellowfin hanging about halfway out to the coral lumps and all along the 50m mark down to canal rocks. But there was heaps and heaps of mulies swimming about, you could see all the school on the surface, but i think the water temp was hotter than it has got to so far this year. Heard of a few fishers hooking unstopables tolling!
Was good when the Naturaliste Game and Sportfishing Club used to put their FAD's out. Used to be able to get tuna and yellowtail kings around them most of the time and even a fair few Dolphin Fish were caught down there around them. But alas due to funding issues and a seemingly lask of intrest and/or motivation from the club they now sit in someones front yard.
Good time of year for Dhui's down there too, start to see them lurking in close to the cape, within 2 miles.

Cheers Buz, thanks for all the good info. I'll let you know how I go. Pity about the FADs.

Christmas...and Andy Mac
We have our eldest daughter coming down for Christmas Day, she wants to go out on the boat and Seabreeze looks good (so far!). So, it'll be an early start at Emu Point and hopefully get into some fish and back before the mayhem starts.
Andy Mac - Don't know what surgery you've had mate (haven't had much chance to be in here lately as you know
) - but hope it's nothing too drastic and you get back to 100% fishing status soon mate!
