catching occys

I started occy fishing a couple of months ago. Not done it before. I have 5 of the square commercial black weighted pots on a 20m length of rope that is weighted each end. In 5 pulls each 2 weeks, I have only got 1 occy. I am in 4m of water in Warnbro in brocken weed/sand. Any hints on improving the catch rate would be appreciated.

Snorkelling
Hi Mack1, I've never really tried the pots, but have had good success snorkelling. Maybe try to find some reef or even rocky ground or other structure like old moorings or similar, rather than just weed & sand? There's loads off Palm Beach in old moorings, or if you want to know what to look for, have a quick swim inside Bird Island near Point Peron - but remember you can't use a spear there. Look for a "garden" of collected shells - usually heaps of mussel & crab shells.

Nothing wrong with location
Occy will be small ( occasional big one) in the wrong cycle . Once whites run out deep you will do better.
