Hi Guys
Just hoping someone out there might be able to help me out with some Snapper advice.
I am just starting to do alot more fishing out on the tinny for other fish than KGs and squid.Just chasing some depth and rough location advice on catching snapper. We have been trying some lumps in close and pulling in alot of small snapper so I am wondering if we are in too close or if it is the wrong time of year?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Regards Adam.

Howdy Adam, still a little
Howdy Adam, still a little early for pinkies. I've picked a couple from a small reef off the right side of the jetty at the end, it's about 100m out from the jetty in 30ft of water. There's aslo some good reef in close up towards Peppy beach that gets fished a lot but sometimes has some very good fish on it. Only about 20 -25 ft but good reef everywhere. It's where an older river came out into the bay.
Cheers

Yeah Meteorite there is a few around but winter time definately produces alot more and bigger ones also.
We have been getting some lately but mostly on mulies floating out the back of the tinny on a pencil jig, fairly small but good size for stuffing.

July/August is the go for
July/August is the go for snapper, that whole area you have describes is usually the spot to go. Another spot is in the area between dunsborough and eagle bay where the water drops off fairly quickly (quick for the bay anyway). Im looking forward to the pinky run for sure.
Got into a few squid the other day, yes they are small and I find waiting til about 3pm is the go. Any earlier and they are spooky and wont take an artificial jig. Im trying to catch the suckers on fly which makes it a bit harder again.
