Burswood Bream - Lures?

So we will be heading up to burswood in a couple of weeks time again for a BBQ etc.  Thinking about trying something new instead of bait.

Have been up there using Soft plastics but they didn't get a sniff.  Used Berkly gulp sandworms on a jig head and on a hook (no touches).  Tried some other SP in the shape of little fish which dont use jig heads and got zilch on those also.  Other than getting no bites another problem is snags, and there is lots and rocks etc out there so you do lose quite a few jigheads etc.

So what are you thoughts on using small hardbodie lures like baby vibes?  Or a small floating lure (suspending Jerkbait) or something similar?

Cheers
Dean

use ecogear sx40's, however, you gotta remember that only a confident larger bream will take a lure (correct me if im wrong but thats what i have found the general concencus is) and burswood is loaded with the average sized 20-25cm bream so a lure may very well spook them....

If I was going to use a plastic there, I would be using the gulp baby shrimp 2" cos its close to the stape foods they eat... ie the prawns... i hear the colour new penny works well

Yeah sounds good rickets.  Do the sx40 float?

Also I'm mainly after the bigger 30+cm bream.  Last time we went there there were bigger ones around but the smaller just seemed to beat them to the bait.  Might try hit one of those pesky skiiers aswell. lol

plenty of rocks at burswood to snag urself on.. i've got a whole collection of SP deposited along that bank... but cheaper to loose jigheads than SX40s... bassminnows have been the go for me there.. then again when are they not the go :P 2' will pick up the tiddlers... 3' (even cut down a bit) get the bigger ones

if you use suspending or floating hardbodies, you wont snag up. Anything that sinks will most likely snag up because you use it much like the softies... thus the baby vibes are out... although, jangles reckons he uses the vibes there.. however, i know he fishes further down towards the skii club, maybe less snaggier ground for the sinking styled lures... but aslong as you dont chuck your lures into the trees like i do, you wont lose hardbodies :P

lol

yeah sx40s are a "floating" lure but thier "float" is very slow, so they are more like a suspending lure in action :D

Use colours 301, 302 or 303 and im sure youll get some action if you can find the bigger bream....

rocks

beware that some of the rocks at burswood are like 1ft square blocks... last time i fished at low tide i saw them and realised what i was being snagged on... it wasn't the bottom... further east from the swanfish spot is where they are so just be careful around there.. even a floating or suspending lure will hit them when your lure gets closer to the bank as its gets to sub 1M depth which is where you can see them

I always use Baby Vibes in Purple works for me up past the golf course. I recommend when using baby vibes I do alot of lifting and twitching when it goes back down.

My reels screaming zzzzzzz.... awwww damn it, its another boat!

All the best for the future fishing trips.
Cheers.... Jangles

Up past the golf course is to far to walk!

I'll buy a few lures and make it up as i go along.  If I snag up to a rock I'm going in after it, most of these lures are prices $10-20!

Will try an bassminnow aswell nick.

Ok so here is what I bought
3 baby vibes
3 rgm scorpion
2 ecogear sx40
3 spinners (trout)
And the ones on the right were cheap from kmart (Work).

As for colours etc, didn't have that great range, so just got a few different colours.

nice work, for burswood and east perth, i would use the 308 colour sx40 you got there, otherwise known as SA Tenessee Shad... its the one with the blueish back and silver/white bottom...

Also the golden baby vibe... excellent sinking lure... but all baby vibes are good.. gold and purple usually are the top performers in the swan though
