Buffalo Bream!

Hey Guys
i went fishing yesterday down at the rock-wall in hillarys boat harbour, used some bread to burley up and up came some massive buffalo bream. which the biggest had to be around 5kgs, so i squished the loaf into little balls training them to take hook sized baits not crumbs, which worked
i had a 12lb fluro carbon leader with 15lb braid, as soon as the bread sank to where they was line started peeling off the reel, for about a min, then he busted me off...
they were all wary to take bait after that moment and all the big buffys swam away :/
i was wondering would 12lb be enough of a leader, and would a mono main-line be better than braid???
cheers

I used to run 4lb main line,
I used to run 4lb main line, with a 6lb leader. managed to stop some horses, 3kg mark. At the moment, i run with 10lb braid and a 12lb fluro leader. HAd one last week at mindarie, easily 5kg, take me into the rocks and ou the other side, and after 20 minutes of getting him out, i had to snap the line myself..... that shows that 12lb is more than enough lol.
