Blue bone

Think I might have finally sussed the land based blue bone code! Have got some stonkers in the 16 months since I have been up here but only consistently in the last month..... I've always found rock crabs a pain in the ass to catch so have just been taking a tiny shovel to the beach with me recently and you can catch as many ghost crabs as you want! Then you just need to hold on for dear life! Here's a couple from the last 2 weekends.

 Love targeting the blue

Love targeting the blue bone. Crabs or Cray feelers are the best. Caught a few on rod and reel, but love the 150lbs handling. Broome wharf was fun, beers and burnt fingers trying to land them, point Sampson marina too. But the Karratha in shore is were I've seen some monsters. Top catch

Absolutely love chasing them! Plenty of lost rigs and cursing but the reward when you land a good fish is worth the pain.

It's funny because the location I chase them seems like fishing a wasteland if you target anything else... Then one day I jumped in with the snorkel and there were big blue bone everywhere. Ease of access to crabs for bait seems to be the big difference!

I've got a mate thats just relocated to Karratha so once he has the area sussed, i'll defintiley be looking to get up there for a few trips. Fishing looks epic!

Nice tip, I never have much luck with the rock crabs but ghosties are everywhere. Will give that a crack. Couple good fish there.

Lackey band

Used to use a lackey band to hold them live instead of sticking the hook through them

I always found my blue

I always found my blue swimmer or mud crab cooked shell burly brought them in and got them to where they were not fussy on what they ate. Just a whole prawn on the 150lb handline was the bait. A lot of people used land hermits for the bait.
