Billfish trolling sounder setup advice

Hey fellas, chasing some advice on some reccommended settings you guys use when chasing billfish. I have raymarine es128 with 1kw low/high chirp and fish 60-200m for small blacks and out to 1000m for blues.

 I'm just scanning top 80m.

I'm just scanning top 80m. Marking bait and fish. Generally find if a fish is deeper than 50m it won't come up even with multiple passes. Less than 40m they will.

I'm running a 587 with ss264 50 wide.

Did you end up staying in Exmouth for the week mate, or just head home early? Weather looked bloody awful.

Ended up going back home. Weather was terrible and really wanted to get a solid answer on what was wrong with the leg. Turns out it wasn't as bad as I thought thankfully.

Cheers mate, think i might have to invest in getting a wider beam tranny, as pretty sure mine is only 10°@ high chirp/200khz.
May sound like a stupid question but do you need to get return readings off the bottom to mark fish? Im not hetting readings of ground in 400++, should i still be able to mark bait/fish still?

I like the wide beam but its

I like the wide beam but its not the be all and end all.
Mate had a 587 with tm260 and he preferred the 200hz high for the same application. That's only a 6 deg beam.
You don't need to be hitting bottom. The beam will reflect off anything beneath you that returns a signal.
Ill send you some pics via fb as its too hard to post them here.
