So i'm assuming you've never

So i'm assuming you've never been night diving? The fact that you can only see where you're torch is pointing isn't the only 'scary' thing.

I love night diving, and I night dive all the time, but i must say i do often feel a little insecure.

Particuarly when freediving or surface swimming a few hundred metres offshore, where you can't see the bottom. THe first time i night dived off a boat we surfaced and the boat was no where to be seen. Floated in the water for about 10min, pretty much in the middle of nowhere, flashing our torches around until the boat came around to pick us up.

Navigating and estimating distances at night is much more difficult than during the day. Navigating a place that you are completely farmiliar with during the day may seem entirley different at night.

Try turning your torch of at night and see how you feel sitting there at the bottom of the ocean / river in the pitch black. Its a very eirey feeling.

Overall though night diving is pretty awesome, and the amount of marine life that is active is amazing.

Nah haven't been night diving yet. Gonna be pretty scary but will be worth it specially the marine life that isn't around during the day. Thanks for sharing your story
