Best spinning combo
Submitted by rockhead on Sat, 2014-02-15 09:02
Need a few suggestions. I want to be able to throw 28g metals or unweighted mulies at tailor from the beach, or tuna from a boat. What is a good spinning combo?

Check out the Nitro Magnum
Check out the Nitro Magnum Butt. Match it with a 4000 shimano or daiwa 3000. Mines paired with a 3000 Daiwa Luvias, probably one of my favourite combos I have, use it for my soft plastics work for pinkies aswell.

budget
Don't laugh! Budget is just that. Around the $150 mark. A mate of mine got a Rovex and Fin Nor combo for around that price. I also want to use it off the beach at Ningaloo to tackle some pretty good Spanglies. So looking for some grunt as well.

You'll get a Shimano
You'll get a Shimano Catana/Solstace combo for that money - good value.

For about $150, I would
For about $150, I would highly recommend the Pflueger Salt Combo.

I bought my Pflueger Salt 50
I bought my Pflueger Salt 50 at Got Ya tackle in Balcatta for $119. Have it on a second hand Silstar Crystal Power Tip 7ft rod. Awesome boat combo for tailor etc.
About 2-3 weeks ago BCF had a special which includes Pflueger Salt reel (any size) combo'd with a Salt rod for $159! I don't think the special is still going but pop in to BCF and negotiate. I usually go to to Ozzie Park store because of the range and service. Liam is the person to speak to there.
Good luck!

Thanks Beau
Thanks Beau. A bit out of my price range for the amount of fishing I do. I got scared off before when I looked at the Wilson Live Fibre Venoms. Good rods like the Nitro's, but...

If you can stretch that
If you can stretch that budget another $30 then you can get a 9ft 5-10kg (15-45g cast weight) Shimano Starlo Stix rod matched with a Sedona 4000 from BCF. I've used that exact combo for a few years now to throw lures at tailor, bonito etc landbased & it's performed faultlessly. A little long for boat work really but you will be able to get away with it so long as your a bit carefull.
If that doesn't interest you then look for something around the 8ft mark with the same line rating & a 4000 or 5000 size spinning reel to match.
