Best options for a fish landbased around Perth
Submitted by Goatch on Sat, 2007-09-01 22:50
Gidday guys , am heading down to Perth for a wedding on Sunday night (Driving from Tom Price) and was hoping for some advice on best options for getting tight to a fish or three . Was considering chasing bream , what's hot at the mo , lures or bait . Are the moles fishing at the moment or am I better off just finding a hole on the beach and throwing lures at it . (Gunna be around till the 17th or so)I don't know Perth very well .

people have done that,
people have done that, however, tweed river prawns work well... coral prawns work aswell, just shell them first and cut them down in size on your hook...

you want a little bit of an
you want a little bit of an overhang, but not a massive one..
tweed prawns are smaller than the coral/NW ones thus I usually present them headless and tailless (depending on size, if its a small small prawn, ill leave the tail on to present the hook better) but when it comes to corals, I usually end up using 2/3rds to a half of it after the tail and head is gone, just enough to cover the hook and a little bit more....
The reason I shell them is because coral prawns shells are very tough and the bream will tend to suck them off first, giving you a heap of mishits or mishooks.... whereas, with the tweed river prawns, thier shells are quite soft so the bream will most the time eat those too.

Take some pellets with you
Fish about 25 feet out and the pellets will keep them on the bite, And try and pick a high tide/1 hour befor and after

Freo Traffic Bridge
Hey fished there today , hour before and after high tide , used prawns , could'nt get away from the bloody blowies , dropped a chopper on a small raider but that was about it . Going to give up from Garratt road bridge a run wednesday or thursday , fished opposite Belmont Racecourse on Sunday but could'nt get a hook to pin , had a few nice hits though ,was encouraging

If your fishing garret road
If your fishing garret road you should be in for some big bream! There are usally some big boys there al year round as well as some good mullies as well. Ive got a mate that dives it reguarly and he told me that as soon as the high tide peaks around there the mulloway come in for a feed. Very convincing i know but im still yet to get a decent one from there, but you never know.
Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
