any 1 know why

when you pass the last beacon in south channel between south west point and cape peron there were 4 large yellow buoys and a large shiny buoy about 2 to 3ks further out(I was told the shiny 1 was a wave monitoring buoy)they have all gone I was wondering if any 1 knows why

A lit surface environmental sensor together with anchorage floats will be positioned for approximately 12 months at the northern end of Cockburn Sound between Carnac and Garden Island commencing on or after the 10th April, 2013 in the following location:

Surface sensor and surface buoys
The surface sensor will be lit and have light characteristics:
