Amazing day off Hillarys

With the weather clearing yesterday decided to take the boat out and go for some sandys behind the 3 mile. Launched at Hillarys after 10 and headed off in perfect conditions. Didn't take long to find the whiting, and they were good size as well, but fishing soon became an after-thought when a pod of Dwarf Minke Whales surrounded the boat. Thinking they would disappear quickly I deployed the GoPro to get some footage, but amazingly the pod stayed with me the whole day - they were still swimming around the boat when I left for the ramp at 2:30 in the arvo!

Was a truly amazing experience, and all just 4 miles off Hillarys! My only regret is that I couldn't jump in the water with them - solo mission and no snorkelling gear onboard.

GoPro footage turned out really well, here's a couple of photos:

Thanks guys, it was a truly unforgettable experience. I'm still amazed they hung around even when I moved a few hundred meters, very inquisitive. I guess that's why the Japanese love them, easy to kill.

Link below to some of the footage, some of it is a little bit shaky because the gopro was hanging on a hand line.
