AG chain knot

Hey guys just after some opinions,

Does anyone use an AG chain knot when jigging ie. tying swivel to leeder. Does it have any strength bonus or is the idea that the thickness/length of the knot help with abbrasion resistance as the knot will presumably be within range of teeth?

I usually use a uni knot to tie my jigs on but have had a few bust-offs on bigger fish just above the swivel (not due to knot failure).

Cheers

Yeah i run it.

Usually do enough half hitchs to go about 1-2" up the leader. I havnt had any bust of on me yet. Would have to imagine that the added thickness will help with the teeth.

I have had the same one holding my assist hook on my PE3 setup for about the last 10 trips with out changing and only need to change now due to abrasion above it from being dragged through the reef from a big sambo.

Quick tie - on the go.

If you do choose the uni knot loop the leader through the swivel twice, then tie your uni (learnt this from a fellow fisho recently). Apparently the chain knot can pop at the swivel under pressure (hence a sheath is used to protect the area). Maybe wont offer as much abrasion resistance as the chain knot... but can be re-tied very quickly so you can get back down and into it. I did use the chain knot and recently tried the improved uni on some hefty sambos. No failures - im convinced :)

I start with three loops through the swivel to give a stronger more resilient connection at that end before alternate half hitches up the leader, finshed with a double hitch.  Run it relatively short, say 15mm, then ball up the tag end with a lighter.  Didn't want to run it too big for fear of putting fish off, or creating a bubble trail with a long knot - plus thats the way I was shown...

Never had any issues with one letting go.

For me the three loops at the start of the knot through the eye of the swivel make logical sense for a more resilient knot and give me a reason to do it over a uni.
