It's usually pretty good out

It's usually pretty good out there at night during summer when the water is warm. We tend to get snapper (undersized mainly), dhufish (also undersized), tailor, snook, eels, squid, octopus, small sharks and big stingrays there at night.

Probably a bit more variety of fish at night, but less edible stuff.

Yep, I head south from hillarys off scabs, no exposed reef to worry bout so no peaky swells, swells are pretty docile through there, think rotto is in the way, iv been out there with a 3m swell no worries, all the wrass are asleep and the dhus are out feedin

3 mile a night is one of my favorite metro fishing spots, so much variety an suprise catches, aswell as your pinks, black ass and occasional dhuies, just gotta hunt around for a nice bit of ground and then anchor up and burley and float down some unweighted baits.

 My favourite spot out from

Fri, 2013-01-25 15:39

My favourite spot out from hillaries is in 12m's of water. The type of bottom is way more important than the depth tho! Being at night tho I personally wouldn't go much shallower then 10m's and I stay away from anywhere that waves can break, just incase!

Yeah mate if you head out to the centaur wreck and then slowly cruise around that area in your boat watching the sounder for a lump or small drop off then drive directly up wind from it and drop your anchor and let the boat float back close to the lump and then tie off. Start your burley trail going and drop some baits in

Fri, 2013-01-25 16:48

A sea anchor is used for drift fishing, he should have a sand or reef anchor on board, pretty sure it's compulsory by law. I find it's best to anchor up and burley if fishin the 3mile. If you are gonna drift along and fish then dont use burley coz it will just drift away and not bring the fish to you. Are you going to drift fish or are you going to anchor and burley?

Yeah find a lump anchor up

Fri, 2013-01-25 18:24

Yeah find a lump anchor up over it. Berly up and wait, Also use some glowing soft plastics at night you will be surprised how well they work. It also gives you something to do while you wait for drift baits to get hits
