What fish are on the top of your to-catch list?
I havent been fishing too long so havent caught a massive amount of species (and usually not more than one or so of each :p).
My list of fish I'd like to catch goes on for pages, but there are still ones at the top of the list:
1. Dolphinfish - for the aerial acrobatics, light line and great to eat too.
2. King George - never caught one or tasted one.
3. Sailfish - great fighting with aerial shows, tailwalking, and big fish to boot.
(wouldnt mind a dhuie over 3kg, a barra, or pink snapper, any size on some driftbaiting gear, and practically any pelagic).
So what are you guys top 3 fish you'd like to catch and why? Perhaps a species, bigger sizes, on different gear, lures/bait/SPs/jig or different styles/line classes perhaps. It would be interesting to see what fish are at the top of peoples list, especially those guys who've caught every species under the sun.

Seriously I would love to catch a nice Dhuie, a Giant Trevally and marlin - in any order.

ooh
I hope to get over karratha way for early season barra Oct/Nov sometime. Then in Nov I want to get a good sail on 6kg or there abouts, or even just film them chewing on the bait balls. Then Dec/Jan I will be targeting big blue marlin, anything over 100kg to 350kg range.

lol Well from all accounts
lol Well from all accounts I think you would put up a good fight once hooked, and seeing as you live in Mt Barker, where lets face it, the sun hardly shines in winter and is as weak as you know what in summer, i would have to deduce that you would have to be close to the same colour as a mulla as well.

Hey Boofhead
Not sure about being called a pink snapper (there are so many things I could say about that but the crudometer might go over the top).

Hey Shortly
Shortly, you have got to get to Kalbarri if you want to have a good chance to get a good sized mulloway, or even Geraldton.
I have had great success at both places.

Favourite 3
Generally what i can catch with limited boat access and even more limited ability so with a well worn tinnie it would be:
1. King George
2. Flathead
3. Squid
I have in the past caught Barra, GT's, Queenies , a lone Dhuie and several other fish of decent size but generally my best eating fish have come from a fish shop and a mate at work - One Powerball AND a few more numbers

Yeh
Yeh Mathew they are rated as a good scrapper. I know where to get them but the problem (good problem) is too much to do and so little time in exxy but that will change with my other boat based up there. I'm gonna throw some stickbaits at em and probably get everything else but.....good fun anyway!
Ohh yeh, barra on fly.....i missed that off my list!

Rod and reel
A sambo from a "yak" on a video camera ??
You will have better luck if you used a rod and reel to catch a sambo , I know they eat anything but I recon you will be hard pressed to catch one on a video camera.
And the strap will be too short to get down to the schools.

Dolphinfish...fun to catch, fun to eat. Salmon off the rocks on light gear, 'cause there's nothing like a bit of a challenge! Big winter tailor on poppers from a metro reef. And tuna...the bluefin/yellowfin/bigeye kind....beautiful fish to look at, and beautiful as steaks on the BBQ or sashimi!

Well, its been a bit over a
Well, its been a bit over a year since starting this thread, so who has managed to knock off a few species of their list in the last year and a bit?
From my list i've managed to get my first dollie (and more) last season at the start of the year, and recently managed to get a KG (if only a small one). Sailfish are a bit more elusive though (not that i've got a lot of chance to try).
Caught several dhuies over 3kg and got some new PB snapper (all on the driftbait gear or lighter) and hooked into a few new pelagics as well. Lots of good stuff on the light gear too.
So who else has knocked a few off, and whats on the new list.
For me, I guess:
1. Sailfish
2. Spaniard on light gear
3. GT on popper
(wouldnt mind some bigger tuna too... and still yet to get a barra)
