Which Shimano rod for Stella 5000sw
Submitted by BunburyYakfisha on Tue, 2012-01-31 18:28
Hi all...
I poped into bcf today to see what rod will suit the Stella 5000 sw,but the only Shimano rod that looked almost a good fit was
the Shimano terez (15-30lb).I was lookin at rods ranged from 15-30lb.
I like to match all my Shimano reels matched with shimano rods,Any suggestion on a 15-30lb Shimano rod,for a Stella 5000sw
Price range upto $370
Cheers Jesse

Why shimano?
They make nice reels, but most of their rods are a bit ordinary.

PRobably one of the TCURVE range would suit and be my pick if you have to go shimano - I don't think we see the best shimano has to offer though - hint hint

I'm a big fan of Shimano
I'm a big fan of Shimano reels on Daiwa rods. Got my Stella 3000FD on a Daiwa Steez 4-12lb and geez its one perfectly balanced and sexy outfit, match made in heaven :) Take a look at Smith rods as well they are bloody awesome!

Mate you have spent the hard earned coin on a nice reel
have you thought of getting a custom stick for it. Alot of bonuses in going custom.

Don't restrict yourself to a single brand, just means you might be getting a lower quality product for the sake of a name. I have mine on a smith KGS, very nice rods.

If looking for rod
If looking for rod recommendations should let people know what you want to use it for, but I agree with the people that say - in my opinion buy whichever rod is best for what you want, not which one has a particular brand on it. If that happens to be a shimano then all good!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Terez TZS72MLPW 7'2" Med-Lt/1pc 10-30lb
I have a Stella 5000SW on a Terez 10-30lb with 30lb braid and caught a 50kg Sailfish see the linked post for details http://fishwrecked.com/forum/my-first-sail-fish-war-and-peace
My Terez is by far my favourite rod, they are designed for use with braid to give you the extra flex you would normally get from mono.

the terez rod you want is the model with the small ( standard plastic ) reel seat... not the skeleton metal seat.

I am so the same as people above
Cant go past a shimano with reels, have only got Shim spins,2 Shim OH and 1 diawa OH. As for the rods have mostly settled on Diawa. Wasnt overly impressed with my T Curve Lacunas jig rod (sorry havent got the specs on me at work) so now have mostly got Diawa and samurai.
I dont stick to a brand either, pick whats the best option.

just get a rod that feels
just get a rod that feels right and has a good reputation forget the brand name
i think im going for a jm titaniumn for my new 6000pg
but about $600
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.
