Weather Friday

Hey guys. What are people's opinions about tomorrow's weather? I have the day off and was thinking about maybe going out from Hillarys and fishing within the 3 mile to see if any snapper around. Wind looks ok, but a fair bit of swell early on. Seabreeze saying 2.7, and willyweathet up to 3m. Normally wouldn't even consider with that sort of swell, but given the wind reckon it may b ok??

I'd stay clear of the 3 mile

Thu, 2020-06-18 20:16

I'd stay clear of the 3 mile and the inner reefs when the swell is 2m +  It can break where you usually would not expect it to .... dangerous.

 The prediction looks even

Fri, 2020-06-19 05:40

The prediction looks even better this morning now I don't know where to go d9, between the islands, harding rock or somewhere a little further out will have to go out and see how the swell is.

It would be good if there

Fri, 2020-06-19 09:54

It would be good if there was a daily update posted online and at the boat ramps to interprit the weather conditions. Kinda like the fire risk warnings you see in the hills.

Being new to boating myself, I never feel confident reading the weather reports and making my own mind up if it is safe or not.

1-5 scale, with 1 indicated good conditions and 5 being serious risk to life.

Unfortunately this wouldn’t

Fri, 2020-06-19 10:31

Unfortunately this wouldn’t work as too many variables. What might be ok conditions for a 25ft boat would be potentially life threatening for a family of four in a 12ft tinny also the boating area transit and destination is variable

Good idea from the lane

Fri, 2020-06-19 11:43

I think the idea of having a conditions board at launching ramps has merit and is something that could be looked into.

Absolute glass but ocean

Sat, 2020-06-20 12:04

Absolute glass but ocean still unsettled with the swell still pumping. Decided to skip targetting pinks and fish a protected bombie for skippy with an outside chance of a snapper. Took home 4x skippy around 55cm and another 4 in the high 40s. Released 5 or 6 snapper around the 480 mark.
Didn't stay too long after sunset as i still wanted to be able to see coming in
