Waeco guru required

Just wondering if any one out there had some tips regarding a 40 litre Waeco, 12 volt only, that doesn't work.

Checked the lead and increased the fuse in the cigarette plug, all good with my 60 litre unit.

Any idea's?

Does it have an error code?

Thu, 2012-03-22 16:47

Does it have an error code? There is usually a red LED that flashes x times in 5 seconds in order to let you know whats wrong:

1    Battery protection cut-out

2    Fan over-current cut-out

3    Motor start error

4    Minimum motor speed error

5    Thermal cut-out of electronic unit

Do you get any of these? Or is it completely dead?

When I disconnect the power the red light is then on and slowly fades out completely.

he means plug it in to run

he means plug it in to run it. Press start and (assuming it doesnt run) look at the LED. It should flash a series of code, 1 2 3 4 or 5 then a gap. Look up the copde he posted.

I guess it depends on how far

Fri, 2012-03-23 09:06

I guess it depends on how far you want to go. I'm not an expert, but I've had a few problems with my one in the past and here are some steps you could try.

There should be an electronic control box next to the compressor with the letters - + F D C P T on it. It's a pain in the ass to get to it though.

Check that you get 12V between the + and - terminals. If your not getting power to this box, then the fridge won't run.

If you are getting 12V to the control box, then you can try bypassing the thermostat by shorting the T terminal directly to the C terminal, this will run the fridge constantly at it's lowest speed.

If the fridge runs with the T and C shorted, then your problem is either a dodgy thermostat or the electronic circuit for setting the temperature is buggered.

If the control box is getting 12V and you have the thermostat shorted and it still doesn't run, then it's probably the control box that is stuffed. It is made by danfoss, costs about $300 and the part number is 101N0210 (It will be written on the side of the control box). You might be able to borrow the control box from your 60L fridge in order to double check before you buy a new one. But make sure that they are both the same part number before you plug it in.

Good luck!

Thanks DTrain, I see the unit your talking about and will have some further investigation.

Tah to you Brucesta also, if required I will PM you.

Thanks to all that have responded, if I can be of any assistance to anyone please don't hesitate in asking, in particular tyres as I manage one of the tyre stores here in K town.
