Is it worth trolling this time of year of the metro area ,and if so what can you expect to catch.

How much sucess do people
How much sucess do people tend to have when trolling around? I havent had a chance to do much trolling here, but did catch some tuna the only time I had really tried out deep (with mako during the FW comp). But then I could imagine you could be driving around all day without any luck? Trolling through/near bait schools might be a little different of course (say if you see a school while bottom bouncing).

Tuna
Paul - see http://fishwrecked.com/node/15554 for images of two I caught back in August 2005. Not the big stonkers - but great fun anyway!
Back then, we would just head out immediately behind the 5 and look for birds diving. Went out 4 weekends ina row and hooked up every day. Not big stonkers but lots of fun.

me!
Personally, I would be doing more trolling when the bans on. The water will be warmer (very cold atm) with YFT a good chance with the usual schooling tuna. Troll minnows around the baitballs as mentioned and around wrecks.....not ignoring the outskirts to structure!
All the best Paul!
