Tow hitch on bullbar

I'd like to have a towball receiver fitted to the front of my Cruiser. The Cruiser is already fitted with a standard Toyota bar (see pic). It's merely for manouvering the boat trailer in some pretty tight storage space. The front hitch will not be used for launch/retrieve purposes.

The idea is to have the receiver under the front rego plate. The rego plate could be mounted on spring hinges allowing it to be folded up and out of the way to receive the hitch and when the hitch is not in use, the hole is covered by the rego plate, or something like that.

Any ideas, suggestions or anyone done something similar?

I'm really hoping to find a turn key solution here in Perth. Just not sure about bolting something onto the exisiting bullbar in fear of it interering with warranty, airbags etc

To put my boat back in the shed I use a small 12v winch mounted on the floor, easier than using a vehicle to put it away. But this would depend on your situation.

I used to do exactly as you are looking to do, but made up my own receiver for the hitch going straight through the winch cut out best thing ever. Just don't forget to remove the tow ball and swing the plate back down had a funny conversation with the police about that once oops . The cops saw it was a genuine mistake so all good but could have easily gone the other way

I was just about to recommend the electric dolly as well. You can buy them off the shelf http://www.parkit360.com.au/ or buy plans off ebay for some $20.

I picked up something very similar to Parkit and manufactured here in WA by "Aussie Wheel". It was up for grabs Gumtree so popped over to Kingsley and bought it yesterday. It works a treat, very impressed. www.aussiewheel.com.au

In short

No. If you want to do this you will need an older model cruiser (40-80) series with no airbags as there is people who have mass produced what you want. You will need custom design, engineering, fabrication and certification on a 200.

I thought it might be fiddley and a "one off" type scenario. I've seen some nice bull bars with whinge plates that could be modified for the hitch receiver but it's a major mess around. The Aussiewheel "tug" is working a treat and the Cruiser stays standard. :-)
