Tailor reports
Submitted by Colin Hay on Wed, 2008-06-04 16:13
Hi chaps and chapesses. I haven't heard too many reports of tailor being caught recently and I had been expecting that some of the bigger ones might have started showing up.
The Almanac suggests tomorrow is a top day for fishing, and while the tide is not so great tomorrow afternoon, I am planning to go tailor hunting straight from work. Does anyone know if there have been any tailor around the Floreat area lately?
Many thanks, Colin Hay

Not around Floreat but if u wanna go down the road to cottlesloe, i've heard people getting a decent size tailor from the groyne (last couple of weeks or so). If u wanna go for surf fishing, might wanna go to where grant st is..heard is popular for tailor as well..ow yea...before i forget, i was fishing for baits the other day at kiosk till sundown, and i saw quite a big fish leaps out of the water just beside me...must've been a tailor i guess..cuz there us so much yellowtail around..so give it a go mate!gd luck..=)
Cheers!

Thanks DK and Morose
I have been tossing up whether to try the Cott Groyne, Grant Steet or Floreat.

Hi Ya,Was on the south
Hi Ya,
Was on the south wall of hillaries Thursday morn having a look. Bloke was chucking a twistie without luck. He was really cheesed off as he had originally gone down chasing herring but saw a big school of tailor (he indicated 30 - 45cm with his hands) smashing a bait school. Apparently he raced home to get his twisty but by the time he got back they had gone.
That was the second lesson.
The first was Wednesday night. Went to Hillaries chasing squid. Saw none but watched a couple of guys hauling in scalies hand over fist off the jetty outside Aqwa. Went Thursday night to see what I could get and got none.
The lessons of both days - be a good scout - ie always be prepared.
But I did get quite a few really nice tailor bait sized gardies Thursday morning at Hillaries.
Cheers.

Nice one Ody
It is frustrating when the fish are there and you don't have any gear with you. I try to caerry at least a small spinning rod in my boot and I alwqays have my tackle bag in the car.
