soft plastics

So, I just got myself a little ultralight 'bream' rod, and I'm keen to start using it!
In the US, I loved fishing for bass with soft plastics, and wanted to know what y'all would recommend here.
I want to try some bream/flathead river fishing, but also light ocean fishing for skippy/whiting/etc.
What do you recommend as far as:
1. leadhead weights?
2. Plastics- size/colour/brand
3. rig styles
any and all advice will be helpful for me as I learn more about fishing here! Thanks!

Plastics in the river and
Plastics in the river and rock walls can be a bit annoying due to all the blowies. If you keep them moving the blowies dont seem to eat them. As soon as you stop you'll get chunks missing.
I like the TT jigheads. Fav soft plastic atm is the squidy pros. Lots to a pack, with scent. Got a few snapbacks too, but a bit hard to rig. Basstrix are nice, but expensive.
Usually just rigged with hook sticking out, I dont think the weed is as much of a problem as bass fishing (where a carolina or texas may be needed). Depends where you are I guess though.

Hey Eddie... For an
Hey Eddie...
For an ultralight outfit, which I would call anywhere from 1-4 pounds, I use jigheads ranging from 1/6 oz to 1/20 oz. As mentioned by Matt above, TT offers a tremendous selection, with a wide variety of weights and an even wider variety of hook sizes and styles. One good thing about BCF, they offer the best selection of these.
For skippy/herring/salmon trout, the Berkeley Gulp Sandworms (natural and bloody colour) are the most effective for me...I normally get the six inch ones, break them in half, and thread them normally onto the jighead. The 2 and 3 inch Squidgies are also good...I use them mainly in the neutral (greens/browns) colours for skippy. Herring and salmon trout seem to be happy with any colour...in fact, I like to use whites/flouros with them 'cause it's easier to see the lure getting eaten! Other good softies for this type of fishing are the Kokodas (they make a cheaper version of the Sandworm) and small Berkeley Powerbait minnows.
For larger fish, such as dhufish/snapper/yellowtail kings/salmon/dolphinfish, well that's a whole different ballgame....let us know if you're interested in that sort of thing with softies!

Gulp & Nitro
If you think BCF has the best range you aint been shopping around enough
I've never seen the range of SP's and Jig heads that I've got in stock anywhere in Perth, let alone the bream lures in general.
PM for more info.

In the Swan and Canning I'd
In the Swan and Canning I'd be starting off with something like a River2Sea baby vibe. you're going to go through a LOT of plastics to start with otherwise.
From there I'd go with what the other have said, fish as light as you can. TT do a great range, but as far as sticking goes I don't think you can go past the Berkley Nitros with the Owner hooks. Not too hard to find either.
As far as plastics go I'd look at some like the Berkley Sandworm or power minnow, Next One eyeball tail and Ecogear Paramax. Don't discount hb's at this time of the year either. I've been getting quite a few on the Bassday hb's with the translucent body. A great prawn imitation.
