Luckily didnt get shocked, but he nearly got a hold of my finger whilst releasing, amazing bend on his back to nearly bite his own tail :)

Not sure what type of fish he had in him as the fish and himself was released successfully as I hope to release everything I catch.....

Good to add another species to the list, was a strange looking catch all round that day including Leatherjackets and Goatfish :)

Coffin Ray

Also known as a Coffin Ray,

a potential of 200Volts of electric shock, would have been a funny story to tell .......especially as I work for an electrical safety company :)

can they killyou with the shock?

will they shock you thru the pliers if removing the hooks? or  is it best to just cut the line

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

Shock

If you are using metal pliers you are asking to get a wallop and they can give you a good one. Its like grabbing a spark plug lead on your car while its still running.

Easiest thing is to cut the line.

Does it shock you from a specific point on its body? Or anywhere on the thing?

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

They have special discharge organs at the base of the pec fins IIRC.

unlucky I know, but I had to bring a semi-conscious dive buddy to the surface after he blacked out from a zap from a monster numbfish in Ningaloo.  Sounded like a gun when it went off underwater.
