Rod Tips

G'day all.
Would like your thoughts regarding boat rod tips, roller or eye? Maybe the merits of both. Most of my fishing is bottom bouncing using overhead reels. I use full rollered rods for trolling. Thanks guys.

Flangies, it provides less
Flangies, it provides less resistance to the line as it gets pulled off, and would presumably reduce damage to the line (though, with high quality guides I doubt youd have many problems anyway).
People i've talken to say pretty much just mono for rollers as braid can get caught. Plus you have to keep them maintained and oiled, etc. I've also heard the roller tips only are pretty much useless as theres not much pressure on the tip anyways (have a look at what angle the line is to the tip next time).

roller tip
ive got a roller tip on my bottom outfit but never had the braid get caught i think it depends on the fit of the roller to the guide

Generally if using roller
Generally if using roller tips for bottom bouncing and the use of braided lines top quality rollers are the go but most rods on the shelf today are stocked with not bad ones and its still important to keep the line tight or it can and will like mensioned slip in between the gaps creating bust offs.
Keep rollers for trolling and conventionals for casting and bottom fishing apps.
Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
