Question about cray boats and ocy

Just a question. Are the Cray boats still allowed to bring ocy into shore as this is a bye catch my understanding of the new law is no they can't.
I was talking to my uncle last night whose brother is a Cray fisherman and he was unclear on it. he was also warned on Saturday night while they were sitting on there boat having a few drinks his 10 year old son was fishing for herring and was cautioned by fisheries that his grandson could not have a line in the water from the boat $5000 fine if enforced but he could stand on the jetty next to the boat

You're on the money there

You're on the money there Shag. No pot fish only occy. No rods or reels, terminal tackle. Only 2 handlines with no heavier than 2kg line for use with squid jigs. Absolutely crazy.

Cheers Mike

idiots!

Sat, 2008-03-08 20:13

john ford and his idiots m8s have no idea, the guy wont even show his face up the mid west! he.ll get flogged! and we are allowed to catch and sell occy to the co-op who pay 9 bucks a kg for em. its all put down on the statement when you deliver your crays! just cos we are in the commercial sector we dont have to be treated like the scum of the ocean! hey bill! you do more damage on the dhuis and other stuff than most commercial guys i know so dont take a swipe at us m8 hey! fishing off the boat banned. if you wana take your crayboat fishing you have to strip it down of all gear to do with crayfishing which is a pain and will take too bloody long then you have to put it back on. And heres one for the fisheries idiots! a m8 up the coast had a fisheries officer on the boat checking pots and catches, he told me m8 whos skippering if he gets a blue bone in the pot he can forget the rules for the day cos the fisheries officer wanted a baldy! go figure!!! Theres no way in high water they are gona stop me from taking occys thats for sure and if i wana fish ill be stuffed if im not gona get one! its my right as a person as well.
