New release Penn Spinfisher V

Anyone seen or used the range of Spinfishers? They are for sale on MOs and look good for $169-189....but jeez the new 10500 model is a monster!!!holding something like 360m of 40lb mono might be a budget reel for beach fishos chasing sharks!!

No wonder everyone has been running the old models out for $85!

I picked up the SSV 8500 Live

I picked up the SSV 8500 Live Liner the other day. Haven’t had a chance to test it yet but I’ll be using it to set live baits out in the surf. It’s made in China but the thing feels like the real deal. It’s weighs almost a kilo without line and has something like 30lb of drag which will be interesting. It’s “water resistant” so you can drop it in the surf but can’t turn the handle although Penn have a video on their YouTube channel showing it being turned in a aquarium for something like a week without water entering. But yeah..  I’m pretty sure they got it right with this gen. Though in saying that- the bail arm open if you open the bail and have the handle in a certain position but I don’t know if that’s the same on other models?  If I’m out this weekend I’ll post back in here with how it went and I’ll probably pick up a 6500 sometime soon too.
